OverviewAt twelve months old, Benjamin was a normal baby. Between 12 to 18 months though - and possibly due to an adverse reaction from a vaccine - Benjamin's language and social skills deteriorated rapidly and he began to turn inward. Up to this point, Benjamin's story follows the unfortunately familiar pattern of children who are diagnosed with autism. The Gift From My Son, however, is a story of autism unlike any other. Avoiding the behavioural therapy approach that is so popular, Lindelien learned to meet Benjamin at his level, as an individual and was rewarded with insights into the mind of an autistic child that include an altogether new theory about the role of left versus right brain dominance. She, also, reveals a number of natural medicine therapies that reversed many of Benjamin's worst symptoms. Table of ContentsReviewsThere are a number of fine books written by parents of autistic children, but with Gift from My Son Keli Lindelien takes us to new territory: using intuition as a guide on the journey of autism. Lindelienas story of how she came to understand many of Benjaminas seemingly purposeless behaviors and how she was led to the therapies and lifestyle changes that helped her son is a moving and inspiring account. It demonstrates once again that the body-mind has its own wisdom, which is revealed to us if we learn how to see. aStephanie Marohn, author of The Natural Medicine Guide to Autism <p> There are a number of fine books written by parents of autistic children, but with Gift from My Son Keli Lindelien takes us to new territory: using intuition as a guide on the journey of autism.
