OverviewSet in Portland, Maine, this novel follows young Scarlett who discovers a deeper connection to her heritage, as well as the ghost of an ancestor. Set in the evocative landscape of Portland, Maine, this novel follows Scarlett, a recent college graduate, in search of independence and purpose. When she reconnects with her grandmother, she discovers strength, confidence, and a deeper connection to her heritage. The older woman lives in a seaside Victorian mansion overlooking Casco Bay. Attached to the grand house is a seven-story tower and atop this structure is the tower room. It is where Scarlett discovers her grandmother does not live alone; there is a ghost who is haunting the mansion. He is Scarlett's great-great-great-grandfather, Captain Samuel Edward Clarke. When Nanna Kate's health begins to decline, Scarlett extends her stay in Portland. It is further extended when her grandmother dies, and Scarlett inherits the mansion and a nautical novelty shop. During the day she manages the business. At night she directs her attention to the ghost-captain. Scarlett's life becomes even more complicated when she falls in love with a seafaring man. Knowing only one sailor can have her eternal devotion, she must find a way for the captain to join his wife in the hereafter. The story moves at an engaging pace, making it impossible to put down. By the time I reached the end, I was left eagerly-and impatiently-waiting for the next installment in the series."" -Vicki Chatland, retired foundation administrator ""The Ghost in the Tower Room was an enjoyable and easy read with engaging characters. I especially liked Scarlett's interactions with her grandmother and the captain, which added depth to the story. By the end, I was genuinely excited to see what Cary writes next."" -Sharon Winchester Author InformationCary Vajda worked for forty years in the field of higher education where his focus was nonfiction-audits, reports, evaluations, and regulations-all important but a poor outlet for his creative side. Now retired, he has immersed himself in the world of fantasy and found his passion in writing fiction. Saving Martha & Molly was Cary's first published novel, followed by The Ghost in the Tower Room. Both are books within the series Ghosts of Casco Bay and take advantage of the rich nautical history of Portland, Maine. At least two more novels within this series are on the immediate horizon. Residing in Midland, Michigan, with his wife, Sally, the two enjoy the bounty of nature from their home on the Chippewa River. Cary is also a Vietnam War-era veteran who has served two enlistments in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
