[The Gerontological Imagination] provides a useful common language for anyone interested in the field of aging and is well worth a read to ensure that we are all operating with a similar, thoughtful, and inquisitive gerontological imagination. * Carrie Henning-Smith, Journal of Applied Gerontology * In this book, Ferraro addresses the reality that most individuals involved in the field of gerontology are also involved in other fields, such as sociology, psychology, biology, or health care. His work articulates a paradigm for the scientific study of aging that incorporates concepts and empirical generalizations from multiple disciplines. He identifies intellectual common ground in gerontology that enables theories, models, and research to be interpreted across disciplines. * The Gerontological Society of America *
