Overview

The Gaslighting Victims' Questionnaire (GVQ), and the Gaslighting Victims' Questionnaire- Short form (GVQ- Short form), integrates areas of gaslighting abuse identification: exploitation of trust; manipulation and control; creation of doubt in the victim; isolation; hostage taking like symptoms; interrogation; brainwashing; threats and fear-mongering; splitting; labelling; luring; debasement; toxicity; abandonment issues; and so forth. Symptoms of gaslighting impact include coverage of: hopelessness; (learned) helplessness; anxiety; depression; mental and physical exhaustion; moral injury; intrusive cognitions; trauma, and more. Guidelines and recommendations are incorporated, for both scales, to assist the assessor. The GVQ, and the GVQ-Short form, is based on M.D. Tophus' 5 Gaslighting Victims' Stages. These are: GHFSA: Grooming; Hostage to cruelty; Fragmentation; revelationary Shock; and, Aftermath. The M. D. Tophus publication 'Gaslighting' provides clear explanation of each stage.
