The Galaxy Has No Memory of the Sunset

Overview

This book covers Ganjavi's poetic experiences over a period of ten years, between 2011 and 2021. The narrative begins with the sudden death of Nima Rozbahani, a subversive underground singer. The poems unfold against the backdrop of the poet's time, marked by the tremors and confusion of the senses caused by immigrating to Canada and encounters with the Iranian diaspora, as well as the suppression of social and political movements. These external forces either disrupted or propelled his dreams toward him. Mahdi Ganjavi is a distinguished historian specializing in education, literature, print, and translation within the Middle East. Mahdi Ganjavi holds a PhD from the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education at the University of Toronto. A former postdoctoral fellow at the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, he currently teaches at the University of Toronto. Over the past seven years, he has undertaken the editing and publication of six lesser-known Persian novels dating from the 1920s to the 1940s. These novels provide valuable insights into the origins of historical and utopian fiction, science fiction, and detective fiction within the Persian literary tradition. Recently, Ganjavi has successfully completed the first critical edition of ""Henriyah Translation"" (tarjumah hinrīyah), which represents the earliest Persian translation of ""One Thousand and One Nights"" (Maniahonar, 2022). This is the second edition of the book, with new ISBN.
