OverviewThe HVAC industry is currently standing at a crossroads. For decades, our approach to air distribution and thermal management has been dictated by the limitations of the sheet metal shop and the injection mold. We have designed systems around straight lines and standard radii, often compromising on aerodynamic efficiency because the ideal shape was simply too expensive or impossible to manufacture. The advent of additive manufacturing (3D printing) changes the fundamental math of MEP design. We are no longer penalized for complexity. In fact, in the world of 3D printing, complexity is ""free."" This book explores how we can leverage this freedom to create lightweight ducting that mimics natural flow patterns, diffusers that eliminate dead zones in a room, and coil supports that integrate seamlessly into high-performance heat exchangers. My goal is to bridge the gap between advanced manufacturing technology and the practical, day-to-day requirements of the mechanical engineer.
