The Frontiersman & the Teacher

Overview

Miss Sayler Rainier is overjoyed to return to the small town of Ford's Promise on the western frontier, except compared to Cousin Coralee, she feels like a fish out of water after being gone for so long. Nevertheless, she is determined to be an exemplary teacher for the growing town, believing the good Lord called her to establish a life in the West as a mission. That suits her just fine, since she has no intention of ever marrying. But she never dreamed her arrival would be so complicated. On top of that, one new student is quite the challenge. And that would be Luke MacLaine's stubborn niece. Luke MacLaine clashes with Miss Sayler Rainier about how to handle disciplinary matters regarding his niece's unruly behavior at school. But he can't deny a certain attraction to the schoolteacher, even though he's sworn off risking his heart to love again after becoming the widowed father of three young sons. Not that he couldn't use the help of a good woman, especially since he's the only one left who can care for his deceased sister's four children. When he finds himself falling for the beautiful and feisty teacher, can he heal from the wounds of his past and overcome internal conflicts to have a chance with her? With mischief afoot in Ford's Promise, can Luke and Sayler overcome their differences to find happiness and help resolve what's going on around them? Or are they doomed to clash about everything? Enjoy this sweet, adventurous, inspirational Western Romance! Get your copy of this Christian Historical Romance novel and be swept away into dreams of yesteryear and how the Wild West was won!

Reviews

One of the things I loved most was how she carried truth with her in such a gentle, steady way. Her pastor's reminder is rich with wisdom for any generation... ""The ten commandments and the prophets and all of the law functioned as a schoolmaster to bring folks to the knowledge that they needed."" And then her mother's quiet counsel ... the kind you can almost hear in your own mother's voice: ""Do not say you will never do something ... the good Lord may have other plans."" These lines, and so many more scattered throughout the book, felt like anchors for the story and for my life. And then there's Luke. A frontiersman doing everything he can to hold a family together - three boys of his own and four children left by his sister. The weight he carries is real, yet he shoulders it with a quiet strength that made me love him right away. He's protective, weary, tender beneath the surface, and unsure how to let anyone close again. His first clash with Sayler feels almost destined, but underneath their stubbornness is a longing neither one of them knows how to name yet. Readers who cherish stories filled with real faith and real love will feel this one settle deeply into their heart. I carry stories with me, but only the ones rooted in God's Word carry me closer to Him ... and just like in every book I've read of Lisa M. Prysock, the chapter epigraphs reach straight into the quiet places of my heart, opening each chapter with truth that feels prayed over and poured out, reminding me why her writing means so much to my life and to my walk with the Lord. __ What a lively return to the 1830s Idaho Territory for another exciting frontier adventure with the folks from the small town of Ford's Promise! This story features devoted schoolteacher Sayler Rainier and rugged frontiersman Luke MacLaine, a widower with seven children in his charge (three of his own and 4 nieces and nephews). The couple's interactions blend conflict with underlying attraction, making for a compelling slow building romance. Merging with the sweet romance are a well-paced storyline with plenty of drama and emotion, endearing characters, an atmospherically rich western setting, and an inspiring faith thread resulting in an engaging, entertaining Christian historical romance read. __ What a beautiful ride Ms. Prysock takes us on, with new characters, heroine and hero, and several of the older and beloved characters from the previous books in this amazing series. I absolutely love this book, and I hope, if you haven't already read it, that you will read it asap.
