OverviewExcerpt from The Four Evangelists: Arabic and Latin S Oriental philology is foreign to the Objects Of the holbein society and is outside the knowledge of the editor, no attempt will be made to reproduce the Arabic text Of the four Evangelists. One complete page will be given in facsimile to indicate to the curious the period of the Arabic; and such literary memoranda will be produced as may be gleaned from the few writers who have noticed the work, or who have written on subjects having close reference to it. These notices are given merely for the purpose of introducing the art work of the sixteenth century. Our last facsimile was of the German artist Ammon, the present introduces an Italian master, a quarter of a century later, viz., Antonio Tempesta.
