He received a PhD from the University of New South Wales, is a Research Associate with the Australian Museum (Sydney), and has particular interests in the pollination of rainforest plants, ecosystem management and forest rehabilitation. He has received a number of awards for contributions to entomology and rainforest regeneration, and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for research into Australia's biodiversity, and habitat restoration.
