Wolfgang Hoepken is Professor for Eastern and South-Eastern European History at the University of Leipzig. His major field of research is Social and Cultural History of the Balkans, in particular the history of violence and memory. Wim van Meurs is Professor for European Political History at Radboud University Nijmegen. He was Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Policy Research at Munich University and is member of the board of the Südosteuropa Gesellschaft. His major fields of research are the development of democratization and integration in the South-Eastern European countries. Wolfgang Höpken ist Professor für Ost- und Südosteuropäische Geschichte an der Universität Leipzig. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf der Sozial- und Kulturgeschichte Südosteuropas mit besonderer Berücksichtigung von Fragen der Gewaltgeschichte und der Erinnerungskulturen. 　 Wim van Meurs ist Professor für Europäische Politische Geschichte an der Radboud Universität Nijmegen. Er war Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Centrum für Angewandte Politikforschung der Universität München und ist Vorstandsmitglied der Südosteuropa Gesellschaft in München. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Fragen von Demokratieentwicklung und Integration in den Ländern Südosteuropas.
