A collection of the first four stories written by Rowan Duncan. These tales deal with the darker aspects of human nature, delving into subjects like murder, crime, violence, guilt, loss, and grief. But there is also redemption, forgiveness, and justice. A WWI vet, in 1933, struggles with PTSD and maintaining his sanity against the backdrop of the Great Depression. A hard-boiled LA private investigator takes a case in the swamplands of Southeast Texas and finds herself in the middle of a generations-old human trafficking conspiracy. A couple on a murder spree terrorizes a small West Texas town. And a newlywed couple make a hair-raising discovery in the backyard of their new home in Austin. Genres include Southern Gothic, Noir, Psychological Thriller, and Mystery... among others.
