OverviewDependence on US funding sources is destabilizing the global AIDS response. Particularly in Africa, more than half of all AIDS spending comes from US sources. Since January 2025, U.S. investment in the AIDS response has gradually declined, and then ceased definitively with the closure of USAID in July 2025.
