Overview

As quoted in the foreword of 'The Eyes', "" The book you hold in your hands now is made with tears that soak the shirt of a comforter, stain the pages of ink and dry in pride, showing nothing but emotion. This read emerges from a dark place in the mind, heart, and peers of me, the author. If you have looked at the table of contents you will notice eight names that are listed above each poem name. This is because not every poem is from my personal perspective. I wrote a lot of these poems to take me to a different place, to understand what someone in these situations is going through. Some of them are very personal and dear to me and some of them are experiences I've gained or sought to learn about from someone other than a peer. This book is the spawn of sixteen months' worth of tears, agony, expression, depression, pride, and even joy. This book is not to make you question life itself or be mad at the world's mess, however, this book is to get you, the reader, to pay attention to things, people, and above all yourself. Being self-aware of my faults and what I did wrong is what makes this entire book so special. No matter the length, the verbiage or the overall cadence, this book takes you through a person's life just for a moment. So, I ask as you read, ""do not laugh and make fun, or grin and throw puns, or sinfully grunge, or cuss, or fuss"" because this is probably someone's, whom you might know, darkness. I took a pen and wrote their tears, now that it is dry, it is time to look into their eyes; 8 people, 16 eyes, and 8 perspectives, in 8 different poems. Let us open the eyes and let every word sink into our minds.""
