Overview

On an un-ordinary day for Liz (who was not an ordinary girl), she decides to call for help because she knows the place where she is living is unsafe. When a nice lady from the foster care system picks Liz up, her life changes. She moves to a new home but finds it difficult to make friends. She's embarrassed about being a foster kid and decides she won't unpack her clothes, just in case she has to leave again. Then she meets Willow and Ollie at school, two friends who immediately welcome her and invite her to go on all kinds of fun adventures. As she builds a friendship with Willow and Ollie, she wonders if they will still like her if they know that she is a foster kid. Liz was brave once before-can she be brave again and share the truth with her new friends? And most of all, can she finally find the true home she has been searching for all her life?

Liz Sutherland has no memory of the first few years of her life, outside of being dropped off at a stranger's house when she was a child, a story she recounted in her first book, No Ordinary Liz. As a teenager, Liz gathered the courage to call social services and rescue herself and her siblings. Thrust into the foster care system, she learned to survive but never gave up hope that she might someday be reunited with her brother and sister and discover the truth about her identity. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, she graduated from Western Carolina University with degrees in Computer Information Systems & Criminal Justice. She now works in Tampa, is a frequent motivational speaker for organizations and has had her life story featured on several podcasts, radio, and TV shows.
