Reviews

The Evolution of Faith, the third in a trilogy dealing with religion and science co-authored by Thomas McFaul and Al Brunsting, is an astute exploration of how the discoveries of modern science can interact with the insights of religious pluralism to shape how Christians view God and Christ. The authors develop a new perspective called 'evolutionary pluralism, ' and their cross-disciplinary collaboration promises to stretch readers' minds and ultimately clarify and strengthen faith. --Alyce M. McKenzie, Director of the Perkins Center for Preaching Excellence, Perkins School of Theology, Dallas In a world where social media and politics drive us to extremist positions, it is refreshing to see a book that takes a historical look at religious and scientific beliefs and provides a detailed analysis of how they can be--and are being--reconciled. The authors bring science and religion together in a way that upholds and strengthens the core tenets of each. This book is recommended for anyone who loves science and God and wants to understand both more deeply. --Graham Wills, Data and Artificial Intelligence Architect and Inventor The third book by Thomas McFaul and Al Brunsting, The Evolution of Faith, provides a new approach to the discussion of science and religion. They use plain language that is approachable to most readers. Their new insight, called 'evolutionary pluralism, ' links evolution and peaceful relations between science and people of different faiths who live close to each other. Their contribution is both unique and valuable. --James Nelson, former Director of the Asia Technology Center at ITW The first eleven chapters of this book lay out the impact of major scientific advancements on our understanding of the universe and provide a view of the various religious beliefs that have grown up in different cultures throughout human history. These chapters provide the groundwork for the powerful, insightful, and thought-provoking final chapter on the evolution of faith. I recommend this book for readers, regardless of their religious or philosophical beliefs. --Dale Zimmerman, Attorney, recipient of the 1989 Milton Gordon Award for Outstanding Service The authors are experts in their fields of science, world religions, and evolutionary history, with long careers examining and teaching these subjects. An excellent review is given of the main leaders in evolving new scientific discoveries, and it is well illustrated. This is an exceptional book for college students, seminary students, and life-long learners to explore humanity's ultimate questions. --Richard L Schwenk, Cornell University, former Director of the Rural Training Center in Malaysia This book is recommended for people who are interested in learning how the world's various religions compare with the current scientific view of the creation and evolution of the universe and the rise of humanity. In addition, the authors show how a single view of the universe with all its complexities relates to religious pluralism and why this is an important connection for humanity to make. --Howard Lange, Physicist, SETI project
