OverviewThis book was born out of a deep longing that has shaped my heart for many years: the longing to see the Church of Christ truly united, not only in word or aspiration but in lived communion. I have watched with sorrow as well-meaning efforts for Christian unity have often faltered, weighed down by the expectation that we must first achieve a perfect doctrinal agreement before we can share at the Lord's table. But I have become increasingly convinced that the path to unity is not paved by human negotiation or theological perfection - it is given to us as a gift at the Eucharistic table of Christ. In writing this book, I do not make light of the valuable work done in ecumenical dialogues; I deeply respect and honor those ongoing efforts. Yet I believe those dialogues will move more easily and bear greater fruit once we are one in communion - because it is through sharing the one Bread and the one Cup that Christ Himself draws us into deeper unity and leads us, by His Spirit, into the fullness of truth. I offer this work as my personal reflection, not as the official position of the Coptic Orthodox Church. It is written with deep love and respect for my Church and all Christian traditions. I pray that its insights may one day be reviewed, discerned, and perhaps even embraced by the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church as well as by the governing authorities of other churches, as together we seek the unity for which Christ prayed. I hope that this book will invite Christians of all backgrounds to look again at the heart of our faith, to rediscover the meaning of the Eucharist, and to embrace the possibility that unity is nearer than we often think - because Christ Himself is present and active among us. I pray that these pages stir in each reader a renewed love for the Eucharist and a deeper commitment to the unity that Christ desires.
