The Escape

Overview

They were from two different cultures, two different pasts, and two different futures, but they came together to achieve one goal, to escape the dystopia of Red America. Miles Pierre, a musician from New Orleans and Ezra Wellington, a retired math professor from southern Virginia found themselves on an empty train car fleeing to the north and together they teamed up to make a life changing journey to the blue state of New York. What was known as the United States had been cleaved into two separate countries. The American Civil war 2.0 happened with a minimum of bullets, it was a political war, a conflict of ideology, political shenanigans, and computer-generated propaganda. Once again, the south and north separated, only this time it was Red America vs. the Blue. Those Americans who had compassion for humanity and the rule of law began migrating north. Red America interpreted that act as treasonous. Ezra's dog, Pilot came along and made them a trio of outlaws in a land where the law only served the powerful. In an effort to avoid the authorities, their path took them through train yards, suburban neighborhoods, state forests, country roads, and all out attacks from bounty hunters all of which served to forge the bonds of friendship through a shared ordeal. Will the Blue be what they expect, or will they be disappointed in their bid to change tribes? In the end, we all reach our own nirvana.
