Overview

This is a verse by verse commentary on the Epistles of Peter, John and Jude. The work is devotional in nature seeking both to understand the meaning of the original text in its context while applying its principles to life today. Peter, John and Jude write to believers living in a time of persecution and struggle for the faith. False teachers, mockers abounded and believers often suffered under their hands. The temptation to compromise and discouragement was real. The promise of Christ's return was being delayed and some did not have answers to the questions being posed by unbelievers who belittled their faith. Apostolic authority and teaching was being questioned and the faith of those who confessed Jesus Christ was being stretched. The apostles Peter, John and Jude write to encourage and strengthen believers in these times. They challenge them to persevere in what they had learned from them about Jesus. They remind them of the gospel truth and show them how they can distinguish that truth from the error being taught around them. The apostles show their readers how they can know they were children of God and how to walk in His light. The assure these struggling believers that though the promises of Jesus were being delayed, they would certainly come to pass and that they could be absolutely confident in the message of the gospel and the hope it brought. In an age of doubt, confusion and chaos, we need to hear afresh the words of these apostles.
