Guida received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy, where he worked on nuclear-powered warships. From there his career focused on information security in the Federal government and private industry. He served as vice president for Worldwide Information Security at Johnson & Johnson until his retirement in 2011, and has provided consultative advice to Fortune 500 companies since then. He also served on the Department of Commerce Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board and the U.S. Army Science Board and received an MBA from the George Washington University in 1981.
