""Ben was someone I knew, years ago."" It's a case of bad timing for Violet Kaji. She's eighteen, in her first year away at a university, and she's just finished reading Jane Eyre. She meets a boy named Ben, and, like many since and before her, succumbs to its vision of romance. But Ben is no Rochester, and Violet, much to her own disappointment, is no Jane Eyre. Violet has some things to work out, like who she is and what she wants to be. The End of a Story follows Violet from the depths of winter to the blazing heat of summer, through both comedies and tragedies. Along the way, she meets all sorts of people, each with their own story. What unfolds is a story about letting go, not only of fleeting crushes, but also those insecurities that get in the way, a story of discovery, of finding direction, and, eventually, even love.
