As a fourth instalment the Inventories for the city and county of Exeter are now pub lished. These transcripts made by Miss B. F. Cresswell, of Exeter, have kept as closely as possible to the originals in spelling and abbreviations. She is also responsible for the Introduction. Miss Cresswell wishes to acknowled e the courtesy of the Town Clerk of Exeter, H. Lloyd arry, Esq., in affording every facility for transcribing the Inven tories and collating the proofs with the manuscripts. For the historical notes she is greatly indebted to The Western Rebellion of 1549, by Mrs. F. Rose-troup.
