The Dust That Remains

Overview

Being good natured and honest is the principle Alejandro Druett lives by-one he has learned from his grandfather. Alejandro and Grasshopper, these two adventurous brothers, transgress every boundary in the lush valley of Russell. The two brothers emerge in a world that gradually undermines their innocence and the dream their grandfather has contemplated for them for years. Meanwhile, the Queen of The Wine Fest, the arrestingly beautiful Alvera Reys has set her sight on the man she loves. Romance is imminent only to be foreshadowed by the dire circumstances surrounding farmers and sharecroppers in Russell. Alejandro and Grasshopper face challenges on many fronts and must find a way to redress a wrong. After Alejandro and his family's livelihood is threatened, he is ready to take matters in his own hands, but an act of compassion overcomes the young boy, as he still needs to confront the origin of his own affliction. Protected by his family and a community of good-natured people, a whimsical and daring Grasshopper likes to tell lies, but through truth and courage, he will soon realize what life is worth. To secure a place in the world for themselves and their family, both brothers must grow and transform their lives and living conditions. Courage, compassion, and truth telling will lead both brothers to be whole again-but at a price.
