Volume One of the planned series invites curiosity from the first glance at the cover. Once the book is opened, the reader is invited on a journey of fantasy, curiosity, creativity and sheer joy. The student traveler's journey is captivating through to the very end. All along the journey, the student is subtly and creatively encouraged to think musically, and to compose. This ingenious approach to beginning composition is diverse and can be used by all instrumentalists. High praise to Ben Ereddia for creating The Dragon Quest! We look forward to future volumes in the series. David Watkins, NCTM Professor Emeritus of Piano Kennesaw State University This is a book with a fun story that teaches kids to write songs for a variety of instruments. The story is well-written with plenty of kid humor. It's a fun fantasy story that puts you in the starring role. You will encounter wizards, dragons, trolls, and more, each giving you a quest which involves composing a simple piece of music. You've never seen a book like this before. It is so much fun! Don't hesitate. Just buy it. Your children (and music students) will love it! This book is beautifully illustrated and is extremely innovative in its method of teaching beginning music theory. If you're looking for a unique way to get your young musicians to love music theory, this book is an awesome start. The Dragon Quest is a book of adventure, crossing a troll bridge, getting the water into the river, and making the dragon egg hatch, but most of all, it is about making music. I really love it! Emily, age 7. What a great way for children to learn composition! The instructions were clear, the illustrations captivating, and the story engaging. My daughter had only been playing piano for a few months when we got this book and she absolutely loved being able to write her own music.
