Bud Holste a retired game warden with a thirty-one-and-a-half-year career lives in the State of Washington, completed his book ""The DNA of a Game Warden"" an entertaining memoir of his life as a poacher, hunter and wildlife enforcement officer is a must read for avid hunters, conservationist or persons interested in becoming a wildlife enforcement officer. Bud started as a game protector in Ohio, moved to the State of Washington as a wildlife agent, was promoted to a sergeant, worked undercover as a special investigator with a beard and ponytail, and was promoted to captain of the Statewide Investigation Unit. Bud received a black eye, suffered a broken nose, was assaulted, had to physically arrest several violators, saved a child from being kidnapped, and felt like he was going to get shot four times. He also thought he was going to die in a vehicle accident thirty days before he would retire.
