Is America on the brink of civil war? Ten years ago, the political divide in America led to a peaceful separation between broad, red, rural regions and densely populated, blue cities. The new countries formed a fragmented map, and the two nations now coexist in a fragile balance. However, long-standing historical resentments simmer between the ideologically different populations, with the risk of an unstable peace erupting into full-scale conflict. Abra Colorado is a fiery conservative from the Republic, a gun-toting Red who follows logic and believes in a higher power. Professor Barry Royale is a staunch liberal from the Progressive Districts of Earth, a pacifist Blue who follows his heart and believes in the greater good. Brought together to navigate the two disparate nations formed from the former United States, they must thwart enemy forces trying to disrupt the fragile coexistence. Only the mutual efforts of two people, one from each end of the political spectrum, can save the day. In this fast-paced thriller, Abra and Barry race across reimagined borders, facing threats from both friends and enemies. Edward Newton won the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award for Best First Short Story from the Mystery Writers of America. He has published science fiction and fantasy novels and is best known for his horror series, The Tempests of Terror. He has traveled through all forty-eight continental states and has experienced the many things that unite Americans as a nation. He lives near the beach in Florida with his wife, Treina. He has four wonderful children: Kobe, Gage, Oliver, and Bennett. His favorite color is purple.
