Overview

The Jesuit priest, theologian and expert advisor at the Second Vatican Council, Karl Rahner (1908-1984), is considered by some to be one of the greatest theologians of the 20th century. His influence in Catholic circles, especially in interpreting the Second Vatican Council, is still alive today. Consequently, it is necessary to examine his theological interpretation of Vatican II in order to determine if it is fundamentally sound or flawed. In this publication, I will demonstrate that his theological interpretation of the Second Vatican Council is not suggested by the council, but is in fact in opposition to it, as well as the Catholic faith itself.
