Bradley's dreams came every night. Aliens, gun fights, battles on distant planets in distant galaxies-his very real recollection of a planet-killing superweapon's destruction, their narrow escape, the darkness-all of it feeling like someone else's memories. While his wife, Britney and his therapist made inroads to convince him none of it was real, no one could deny the life altering impact this event had on him. He was stronger and more complete as a human male, but he was also terrified by what he saw when his mind went from wake through twilight into the infinity of sleep. His feelings which he struggled to suppress erupt when he is visited by a specter from his night terrors who presses him into the service of the darkness where he learns a new term-Prima Voca-the call. As he attempts to hold onto his humanity, his marriage-he finds himself again thrust into a world of deceit, bloodshed, and choices involving the life-or-death fate of others no person should ever have to make, while also meeting old comrades and tenuously bonding with new. He did not ask for this, and he did not want this, but the universe did not care and had placed him in the center of a conflict where the future of a galaxy and billions of lives hung in the balance. More than that, he finds himself within the darkest place within the darkness and amongst the terrified, echoing screams of those imprisoned in what Earth dwellers-Terrans, would call hell, but on the other side, they call Dark Star Six.
