OverviewJessie Brewster is a naïve, thirty-year-old bloke from the bush, who travels to the city for the first time in his life.Jessie experiences things he has never dreamed off in his first few days in Sydney. He gets taken for ride by a prostitute and finds himself a job as a 'courier', which, he unwittingly discovers, is just another name for a drug mule.Jessie's boss, 'Herman the German', forces Jessie to take part in a kidnap attempt involving Rose, the sixteen-year-old daughter of a rich underworld criminal.Jessie finds himself imprisoned with Rose after his boss forces him to 'chaperone' her and keep a close eye on her in a secret hideaway behind his warehouse.Rose, Jessie discovers, is a spoilt little rich girl with an attitude and a caustic tongue. Jessie discovers some frightening and disturbing things about Rose during their flight for freedom, things that change his mind about her.Their flight takes them into some very murky places where they come into conflict with the lowest of the low. Jessie has to continually put his life on the line to protect Rose from death. He receives no thanks, only ridicule, from the spoilt, over-indulged teenager.The story climaxes in a frenzy of bloodshed and murder, where more terrifying things are revealed about Rose, her criminal family and the underworld figures who are pursuing her.When all seems to be lost for both Jessie and Rose, fate intervenes.
