Overview

The Book is based on the last six chapters of the Bhagavad Gita (chapter-13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18) and is the third and last volume of the series Demystifying the Bhagavad Gita The first step in gaining supreme knowledge about God is to understand oneself. First six chapters of the Bhagavad Gita deal with the objective of understanding the true nature of the self. Demystifying the Bhagavad Gita (Vol-I): Understanding the self is based on the first six chapters of the Bhagavad Gita to help readers understand this ancient wisdom with modern knowledge. The second volume titled Glimpses of the Absolute covers the next six chapters, from chapter 7 to chapter 12 of the Bhagavad Gita. This book is a sequel to Demystifying the Bhagavad Gita (Vol-II): Glimpses of the Absolute . In the second Volume, we learn that God has two-fold nature of the God, where his upper nature is pure consciousness and is beyond space and time, while the lower nature comprises of the five element world consisting of solid, liquid, gas, space, and heat. This becomes a little incomprehensible and therefore to meditate upon God one needs a symbolic representation. We then learnt about the sublime mystery of the Absolute revealed by Lord himself, explaining how the entire material world is created, pervaded, maintained and annihilated by the consciousness, the upper nature of God. Then we learnt how to contemplate divine presence in the countless objects in the universe and in mythological symbols. Then we learnt that in Vishwaroop or Universal form, everything in the universe is seen as contained in the Supreme. Beholding the Supreme in every form of the universe and the universe in the Supreme is seeing the Universal form. In the last chapter of volume -2, we learnt the two paths to achieve the Supreme. In the first, one contemplates upon the Supreme who is formless and eternal, and in the second, one contemplates upon the Lord having form, and considering oneself a part of Him. The second approach is defined as bhakti yoga. Proceeding ahead from the last chapter of volume 2, where God is seen in every space-time element, and considering oneself as part of that, the nature of the space-time world is discussed in detail. The space-time world manifested or unmanifested has been termed as Prakriti, which can be loosely translated as nature. The manifested nature, which was created in the past is perceivable because of the consciousness in the beings. The unmanifested may manifest in future or may remain unmanifested for the animals or humans forever. The present space-time world is visible to us because of the interaction of our sensory inputs received from nature with consciousness. He as the true self of all, dances with the Prakriti and procreates this magnificent world... As the life force, He creates and destroys all creatures and also sustains them by guiding them as inner awareness in the universe. Undivided yet appearing divided in beings, He the object of knowledge is the creator, sustainer and destroyer of all. He, the light of all lights, is said to be beyond the darkness. Sitting in the hearts of all, He witnesses all but does not act. He is the Wisdom, the object of Wisdom, and is reached by Wisdom. The real doer is the Prakriti, acting because of its qualities and the power of the Supreme Self.
