Reviews

Vesco's world resembles a fairy tale version of 18th-century France, where ignorance and cruelty hold little power against cleverness and kindness. Kerascoët's charming, lightly cartoony art and evocative character designs brim with energy, practically leaping off the page. The result is a delightful adventure ideal for fans of Jules Feiffer. * Publishers Weekly *

Author Information

Kerascoët is a duo of cartoonists consisting of Marie Pommepuy and Sébastien Cosset. Before working in comics, they worked in journalism, advertising, and fashion. They are the illustrators of two critically acclaimed dark fairy-tale graphic novels—Beauty, cocreated with Hubert, and Beautiful Darkness, cocreated with Fabien Vehlmann. The Court Charade is their first fairy-tale graphic novel to be translated in English since the success of their New York Times bestselling graphic novel Beautiful Darkness (Drawn & Quarterly, 2014). Flore Vesco was born in 1981. She writes many things—from young adult novels to comic books to postcards for her friends to passionate letters to her many lovers. She lives in Montreuil, France, most of the year, and in her imagination for the rest of the time. She is the author of the novel The Court Charade is adapted from, De Cape et Des Mots.
