Author Information

Cornelia Cattell Thompson (1898-1982) was a teacher of elementary school and a piano teacher, and a dealer in antiques. And most importantly she served as the wife of a country doctor, Jay Ira Thompson, MD in the country town of Smithfield, Ohio in the early 19th Century. She was also a writer of children's books, articles, and the author of The Country Doctor's Wife, now published by The Historical Society of Mount Pleasant, Ohio and by Bottom Dog Press (2021). Her writing has been praised by many among her new post-humous readers. Angela Feenerty is a research historian. She was born in south-central Kentucky where her family instilled in her the love of history and gardening. She and her husband live on a farm where they raise and promote heritage livestock breeds. Together they founded the Heritage Dance Association, a group dedicated to preserving historic dance and music. Angela is President of the Historical Society of Mt Pleasant Ohio, a historic community with deep roots in the Quaker history. She has presented programs to various groups about Mt Pleasant's historic past, highlighting the Underground Railroad and abolition of slavery. She has published ""The Upper Ohio Valley Historical Review on Emancipated and Escaped Slaves and Freedmen of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, and manages Ohio History Connection's Ohio Yearly Meeting House.
