OverviewThis essay sheds light on the concept of job content and identifies types of jobs with difficult job and easy job content. Additionally, why organizations should hire passionate employees that thoroughly enjoy producing the position's job content is delineated in this essay. One concept appertaining to organizational behavior that virtually any employee can relate to is job content. Job content refers to the activities required of the job. Depending on the specific job analysis used, this description can vary from general statements of job activities down to highly detailed statements of each and every hand and body motion required to do the job (Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly, Jr. & Konopaske, 2012, p. 376). Employees receive remuneration to perform the job's tasks and responsibilities which is a monetary reward for producing their job content first-hand. Job content can greatly vary for an individual depending upon the particular industry that an individual works in during their career years. The utmost arduous job content to produce appertains to working jobs that require the creation of new inventions. Perhaps inventors, physicists, scientists, and researchers have the utmost difficult jobs since these careers are extremely cumbersome to diligently work, because there is no set formula that can be applied for always devising new inventions, positing new theories, and eliciting more meaningful research findings. These jobs may be the utmost mentally taxing relative to other jobs since the approaches to drawing forth more meaningful research findings, theories, concepts, or inventions can constantly change and the job content that they attempt to produce can be eminently arduous to elicit and can even be deemed unfounded or unknown. On the other hand, jobs which have arguably far easier job content do not require individuals to strive to develop new inventions or generate meaningful research findings. Jobs with less burdensome job content consist of completing repetitive tasks which can be learned from hearing lectures, reading books, watching videos, attending training courses, or by undergoing anecdotal experience. For the most part, the majority of available jobs in the work force require workers to incessantly repeat repetitious, mundane tasks daily. These jobs that have easier job content include positions that are devoid of critical thinking and ideation, such as working as a security guard, sever, cashier, or clerk. Ultimately, it would be ideal for individuals to work at a job that requires them to produce job content that they are passionate about bringing to fruition instead of working jobs they detest. Job content distinguishes jobs from one another and should ideally be produced by competent employees who are passionate about their positions so that both the organizations and employees can reap optimal outcomes. When employee relish producing their job content, it ultimately leads to increased organizational productivity, decreased organizational turnover rates, and greater profitability.
