The concept of burnout is often profusely understood since it adversely impacts the majority of the population due to most people incessantly feeling burnout. One concept that is most likely a frequent part of the average person's life is burnout. Burnout is a psychosocial process resulting from work stress that results in emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and feelings of decreased accomplishments. Burnout tends to be a particular problem among people whose jobs require extensive contact with other people, responsibility for them, or both. Indeed much of the research that has been conducted on burnout has centered on the so-called helping professionals: teachers, nurses, counselors. physicians, social workers, and therapists (Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly, Jr. & Konopaske, 2012, p. 205). Working is not easy for most people and experiencing burnout is part of the aftermath from working a harrowing job. Job burnout can pervade into the individual's life and can be one of the dire implications of brooking a stress inducing job that fraught with stressors. Succumbing to burnout can lead to agony, distress, weariness, and deleterious health issues. The outcome of experiencing burnout can also lead to depression and put a damper on the individual's mood, attitude, mindset, and social life. In other words, it can be calamitous to experience job burnout each and every day and can render life all the more cumbersome to navigate through when each day becomes more exhausting than the previous day. I can unfortunately emphatically resonate with the concept of burnout. For instance, as a graduate student, my life has been saturated with experiencing job burnout on a daily basis. I would consider being a full student a full time job that immensely eclipses the stress level of working a normal job. Taking four graduate courses as a full time graduate student culminates in doing far more work than a typical job and does not offer any revenue nor benefits that are provided by a typical job. In other words, as a graduate student, you are never compensated in any facet for your time, work, and efforts. If you maintain a regular job, such as being a server, you may work five time per week from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, will earn revenue every work day, and your company may possibly provide you with fringe benefit, such as health insurance. The average job does not mandate you to have to constantly complete arduous assignment, write research based essays, meticulously research topics, read textbooks, nor does not require individuals to attend mandatory chats and pass tests and quizzes. Furthermore, a typical job does not require the individual to complete anywhere from twelve to twenty assignments per week, write anywhere from four to fifteen pages per day, and does not drastically interfere with the individual's circadian rhythm since it is not as time consuming as being a full time graduate student. In spit of its draw backs, being a full time graduate student can elicit long term benefits. Students can avail themselves of the opportunity to attain a copious amount of knowledge and they will be able to fulfill the minimum requirements to be eligible to apply for a niche job they desire to pursue after they earned their degrees. Job burnout can unfortunately wreak havoc on every facet of the individual's life since people can only sustain coping with so much stress before they quit their job. There are various strategies that can be employed to help reduce the likelihood of succumbing to job burnout. In order to minimize job burnout, it is imperative to take naps that are interspersed throughout the day.
