OverviewFlex your photographic skills to capture stunning bird photographs in your backyard and beyond Birds are beautiful, fascinating, and action-packed subjects, and they can be photographed anywhere at any time. There are many reasons why photographers opt to create images of birdsfrom identifying them, to capturing gorgeous artwork, to documenting their unique behaviours. In this book, acclaimed photographer Jeffrey Rich presents the technical photographic and observation skills, plus the artistic techniques required to capture a beautiful image of a bird in action. With a mastery of this level of bird photography, capturing the more static pictures will be much easier. Birding has become one of the fastest-growing endeavours in the great outdoors, and photographing birds is one of the highest skill levels within the birding world. In this book, author Jeffrey Rich discusses the tools you will need to better the odds of capturing technically correct, sharply focused, beautifully lit and well-composed images. He also shares tips for reading bird behaviour, attracting birds, and using hides or blinds to improve the odds of capturing sought-after images of even the most elusive bird subjects. Treading softly and treating birds and the environment with the utmost respect is, for Rich, a critical component of the bird photography experience. He provides simple strategies and poignant advice for respecting and protecting both the subjects and their habitats. While the basics of photography and bird behaviour has not changed in the last few decades, the digital technology revolution presents photographers with myriad tools for enhancing the capture and postproduction treatments of images. Rich presents information on apps, plus some critical strategies that you can use in Lightroom and Photoshop to make the most of your photographs. Finally, you'll find discussions on making the most of your bird photography while traveling in the United States and abroad, sharing your images, and using your images to educate the public and raise awareness for bird/nature conservation.
