Nematullah Ahangosh is an Afghan activist and poet born with muscular dystrophy. Nemat's writing reflects themes of resilience, hope, and the hardships of Afghan society, often touching on the ravages of war and plight of those affected by armed conflicts.Nemat began writing poetry in English around 2017 while working as a peace activist in Kabul, where he collaborated with organizations focused on nonviolence. His activism later extended to education. Nemat pursued higher education in India, where he earned a bachelor's degree at the Madras School of Social Work and studied with a scholarship from the Jesuit Refugee Service.A resident of England, Nemat founded Stretch More, an initiative dedicated to empowering disabled individuals in conflict zones and69disaster-prone areas. He holds a master's degree in conflict, security, and development from the University of Sussex, supported by a scholarship from Uni Ark Foundation.Nemat's poetic talent has gained recognition. He won first prize in the 2023 Frederick Douglass Writing Competition organized by Uni Ark.His literary influences include Arundhati Roy, Gabriel García Márquez, Rupi Kaur, and Harper Lee, whose works resonate with his advocacy for peace, justice, and social equality.
