Dr. Clara Denise West is a retired systems engineer who worked within federal technical institutions including NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee during the Civil Rights era, she holds degrees in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Business and Security Management, and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering. The Collision draws on her decades of experience navigating engineering, academia, and federal service as a Black woman in historically male-dominated institutions.
