OverviewRev. Mark Bailey was Associate Pastor, Church of the Loving Shepherd from 1974-2011. He was a gifted public speaker and writer. After his passing, many wanted to read his sermons; a committee gathered to create such a legacy. In this volume, 80 of Rev. Bailey's sermons are organized into ten chapters. Readers may recognize some of sermons they heard and remember the power, humor, scholarship and biblical-based tenets that Mark carefully chose in delivering his homilies. Even though Mark's voice failed him in his last months, you can hear him clearly in these pages as he exhorts, encourages and loves us all. Mark W. Bailey held degrees from Temple University, the Philadelphia Divinity School, Princeton Theological Seminary and the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work. Mark was an accomplished pianist/organist with many performance credits, an educator and consultant; he was also an ordained minister for almost 40 years. Church of the Loving Shepherd meets in an 18th Century, Colonial Era Pennsylvania stone barn which was enlarged in the 19th Century using the Pennsylvania bank barn style. In 1970, the barn, farm house and 20 acre property was purchased and named Bournelyf, meaning Spring of Life. The Rev. Elwood Bailey, John Woodcock and Mark Bailey had the idea of turning the barn into a church sanctuary; until their dream became a reality, the fledgling congregation met in the church house. The goal was realized in the 1990s as renovations took place and the barn became the meeting place for the ecumenical Church of the Loving Shepherd in 1999. Any profits from the sale of this book will go to The Mark Wayne Bailey Young Musicians Fund at Church of the Loving Shepherd to provide developing performers and composers encouragement and performance opportunities.
