OverviewThe Cockroach family, consisting of Papa Bartholomew, Momma Beatrice, Pip, Squeak, and Dot, sets out from their home in Upper Cabinet Apartments with the ambitious goal of reaching Catfood Island for a culinary adventure and a dip in a grand indoor pool. Their journey is immediately complicated by the need to bypass the residents of SinkTop Apartments, the insidious Professor Arachnid, Madame Web, and their spider brood. To reach their destination, they must first navigate the perilous expanse of THE FLOOR, a tiled desert where they face the threat of Big Shoe and other unknown dangers. During an attempt to evade the spiders, they stumble into an opaque triangular area, which unexpectedly transports them to the bewildering realm of The Great Outdoors, a place they've only heard of in stories. In this new environment, they encounter a formidable new antagonist, Black Ant, and embark on a series of hilarious misadventures as they desperately try to find their way back inside. Their return journey involves traversing the Con-crete desert and patiently waiting for the opportune moment of a large door opening to regain entry to their familiar world. Before finally returning home, they make a triumphant, albeit brief, stop at Catfood Island, where they discover that the spiders now hold them in newfound respect. The story concludes with the promise of more exciting escapades for the resilient Cockroach family.
