Overview

Culled from a lifelong love of world travel, author Bart Scalzi offers a collection of essays which carefully blend the elements of his growing up years and a lifetime of traversing the globe, spanning more than sixty-five years. In The Clock of Life is Wound but Once, Scalzi draws from this treasure chest of learning, discovery, adventure, and just plain fun to present this memento that weaves together elements of his personal life and the experiences of many years of savoring this diverse and wondrous world. He shares stories of journeys across six continents including adventures in Asia, running with bulls in Spain, experiencing a mudslide in Venezuela, and much more. The anecdotes reflect a restless spirit of curiosity, wonder, daring, and the appreciation of the bumps and joys along the way. Scalzi reminds us that we are allotted a measure of time in which to shape our destinies, choose our paths, overcome adversities, and pursue happiness. He sounds like a clarion call to step forward, embrace the world, and waste no time in savoring its bounty.
