Farris, is a delightful children's picture book. This story follows a nameless chicken from being a newly-hatched chick to his first mission as an astronaut. The narrative describes how the young chick expressed his desire to explore outer space to his teachers, only to be scolded for embracing a supposedly unattainable dream. However, he did not allow his detractors to diminish his drive to achieve his goal. This work has very few words, but the conventional wisdom that a picture is worth a thousand words is applicable here. At times the illustrations portray a concerned mother hen hovering in the background. This demonstrates that with the support of his loving mom and through hard work and perseverance, the protagonist became the chicken on the moon. I believe that young children will enjoy The Chicken on the Moon by Jana L. Farris. The illustrations are attractive, and the images are likely to spark conversations between young readers and their parents or caregivers. Farris's use of simple words is great for teaching children how to read. I appreciated that the protagonist is an excellent role model for all, especially young children. As an example, the chick is keen to eat his food with the hopes of growing big and strong. Carers who read this book with their children can use this scene to dissuade youngsters from being picky eaters. I highly enjoyed reading this thought-provoking and visually appealing tale.
