Overview

The Chamoru American Warrior is a powerful true story honoring the heroism of a native Chamoru son of Guam, my great-grandfather, Francisco Jesus Cruz. A Chamoru freedom fighter promised the Medal of Honor for his courageous role in helping liberate the island during World War II. As a member of the Guam Combat Patrol, he and his fellow warriors risked their lives to protect their homeland and support U.S. forces in the brutal battle to reclaim Guam. Told through a deeply personal lens, this book sheds light on the untold sacrifices of the Chamoru people, the legacy of resistance and resilience, and the pride of a culture that stood strong in the face of war. In partnership with the Chamoru American Foundation, this story uplifts Indigenous voices and history. A portion of all sales supports the nonprofit's mission to promote emergency preparedness, cultural education, and resilience for Guam and the Pacific islander community.
