(in The Burnley FC Miscellany.) Author InformationThe Revd David Wiseman has been a 'Claret' all of his life. He followed his father and grandfather, and the family, now including David's son, has been at Turf Moor since the 1890s! A minister in the United Reformed Church, David has written previous books about his beloved Clarets - Up the Clarets! (1973), Vintage Claret (1976) and A Case of Vintage Claret (2006). Much of his ministry has been centred in communities, where he has organised children's and youth football in Workington, Blackpool, Wigan and Bournemouth. He estimates that over 25,000 children have played in his various teams over the last 40 years. Some little lads have gone on to play hundreds of games in the Football League, and their sum total transfer fees run into millions of pounds. But here David writes about the first love of his life in football - the Clarets. And what a funny club they are! Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
