Overview

As documented in the recent BBC TV series, the building of New York's landmark bridge tested to the extreme the extraordinary family behind this legendary feat of engineering. Their vision represents the dramatic framework for the story of how all suspension bridges are built. This book documents and illustrates the design, step-by-step construction, multiple setbacks and ultimate completion of the bridge, all presented in a readable manner, supported by diagrams and dramatic illustrations. This is the story of one of the world's most famous bridges and the remarkable family of engineers that built it. It is illustrated throughout with detailed colour artwork by Alan Witschonke. It also features historic artwork, archive photographs, gatefold illustrations, timelines, glossary, maps and index. ""Wonders of the World"" - the award-winning series that tells the stories behind humanity's most extraordinary creations.
