This book is in fact is a true example of translation as a rewriting as discussed by Anrew Lefevere. In introduction the translator has admitted that he took liberty to add and omit some of the texts to make this readable and lucid for the readers. Harimohan Jha was a critic of malpractices and evils of the contemporary society and through his witty and satirical stories and characters he exposed the flaws. ‘The Bride’ is a story of such a wrong tradition of Mithila society in particular and in Indian Society in general.
