Reviews

Dong-sun Kim's pioneering and important study explores the biblical emphasis on the ethical significance of eating together, from the Passover through Jesus' patterns of table fellowship to the Eucharist, and relates this creatively to understandings of the significance of eating together among the Minjung of Korea. This book is full of insights which will be challenging and significant for biblical scholars, students of liturgy, ethicists, and above all for those who are interested in points of growth in the world church today. I commend it very strongly. (Duncan B. Forrester, New College, University of Edinburgh) This book gives a challenging example to the understanding of the Lord's Supper in terms of its meaning (theology), celebration (liturgy), and realization (practice). Dong-sun Kim's study will be valuable for those who believe that what is experienced among the Christians should be linked to the church's responsibility for the society (social ethics) and the world (missiology). (Sung-yong Hwang, President, Honam Theological University and Seminary, Kwangju, South Korea)
