Author Information

Orville R. Sweeney is a former Track & Field athlete and coach. He enjoys gardening, exercising, traveling and working with children. After many years of working in the field of education on the secondary and post--secondary levels, he decided to share some of his experiences with the world in the form of creative writing. Orville enjoys working with kids so much that even in semi-retirement, it brought him back to the K-12 environment. This inspired him to write his first children's book, The Boy Who Saved Recess, which tells the story of his journey to the United States as a young child and how he was able to overcome bullying, make new friends, develop resilience and gain a sense of belonging in a new culture far from home.
