Reviewed By Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite The Book That Ate My Brother: The Mighty Adventures, Book 3 is a children's picture book written by R.C. Wittig and illustrated by Lynx Animation Studios. What better way to get reading material for story time with your dad than to take a trip to the library? The library is mysterious and exciting, and filled with infinite possibilities and wonder for a child. Who doesn't remember the first time an adult took them to the public library? I know I do. In this book, a girl and her brother are at the library with their dad. Each of them can select two books. Her brother decides upon a book that is way out of reach. He has to climb the shelves of the bookcase to even try to touch it with his fingertips. But when the bookcase begins to shift from his weight, the book seemingly moves on its own -- and then something really strange happens... R.C. Wittig's clever and fanciful children's picture book, The Book That Ate My Brother, had me fondly revisiting that momentous first occasion of visiting the public library. After only having a few books at home, what untold wonders awaited me in all those rows of books? Wittig gets that excitement young readers feel at going to the library and relishing the magic of finding your own books. Her story is a marvelous one, filled with wonder and adventure, that also teaches kids strategies for approaching new words and challenging books on their own. Lynx Animation Studios does a superb job at providing the reader with a visualization of that library and the ensuing adventures shared by the girl and her brother. And don't let the fact that this is book 3 in the series discourage you from reading this book first -- it works perfectly as a standalone story. The Book That Ate My Brother: The Mighty Adventures, Book 3 is most highly recommended.
