Author Information

Having coached thousands of cancer patients and their loved ones throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, Sharon Lee Parker has a passion for educating patients and their loved ones. As a cancer winner herself, Ms. Parker draws on her own experiences to provide personalized support to patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. In her book, Look Out Cancer Here I Come: How I Beat the Odds and Came Out a Winner, Ms. Parker details her battle with cancer and provides insightful advice and guidance for those currently fighting cancer. The inspiring work, available in the U.S. and many foreign countries, was presented to Pope Benedict, during her visit to the Vatican. Sharon's late husband, George Parker, was a part of the well-known Parker-Winarick family who built the legendary Concord Hotel, in upstate New York. Here, she spent many years as Director of Guest relations priming her for what she does today. Ms. Parker's love for writing was sparked by her father, Michael Strauss, who was the Winter Sports Editor and feature writer for the New York Times for 53 years, and Sports Editor of the Palm Beach Daily News, until he was 96 years of age. Ms. Parker is a woman who has lived many lives and continues to do so. She was honored to receive a Doctorate of Letters from Felician University in New Jersey. She lived in Boulder, Colorado for seven years, where she was Director for the United Way Volunteer and Information Center. She was Director of a program for the Blind and Visually impaired in the southern part of Palm Beach County, and taught English, to foreign-born, at the Foreign Language Exchange in Boca Raton, Florida. As Director of Patient Experience, Hospitality training, and Cancer Coaching, Sharon answers questions and helps patients and families through the complexities and issues they may now face. She is available upon request to answer questions in regard to the patient experience and speaks to private, civic, and university groups upon request.
