The Book of Sprout: A Magical Adventure of Growth and Discovery

Overview

In a magical far away wood, a young boy must begin his quest to fill the pages of his life's story. Sprout lived happily with his loving parents at their farm in the forest. He grew as comfortably as a flower in a well-tended bed and loved nothing more than a new story. When his parents gift him a beautifully handcrafted leather-bound book, Sprout is eager to absorb yet another new tale. That is, until he opens the book and finds it blank with only one word inscribed on the title page: his name. Equipped with a few necessities, the support of his family, and an adventurous spirit, Sprout must pull up his roots and begin the journey of a lifetime to fill the pages of his book. Along the way, he meets friends, foes, damsels, and danger, each encounter marking a more thrilling chapter in his tale than the last. Will these new experiences help him grow as strong as the tallest trees and as rich in knowledge as the surrounding soil? Will he succeed in filling the pages of his own story? The Book of Sprout shows what it means to do just that. A modern folktale that's bloomed over generations, Sprout's fantastical journey reminds us to take risks, lead with an open mind, and spread our roots farther than we dreamed they could reach.

Reviews

""Why dragons steal fair maidens and what they plan to do with them, no one can really say. But these are the questions that arise in the mind of a young and curious Sprout who knows that in the olden days, people carried stories like seeds-planting them in hearts, where they might grow into tall trees of unspoken, eternal wisdom. Hundreds of years from now, readers like you will still enjoy and savor what Karen Norheim has done. How mighty strokes on her magical keyboard have brought to life a timeless tale of courage, kindness, struggle, and compassion. These are stories that will be spoken, shared, and passed down through generations from fireside to fireside-including yours"". -Gair Maxwell, author, Big Little Legends ""Sprout's tale is not only a charming story-it's a therapeutic tool, a developmental primer, and a love letter to resilience. As a licensed professional counselor and health leader, I see this book's value far beyond the story itself. It opens doors for children and adults alike to reflect on the life they're writing-and to believe they can edit their path with empathy, courage, and care."" -Dr. Kryn McClain, DHA, MSED, LPC, founder and CEO, CatapalloVR, Inc. ""Storytelling makes for powerful teaching, and this is the best kind. The Book of Sprout is a beautiful story, glowing with color and life, that tells a simple tale of a child's adventure growing into a rich and complex journey through truth, knowledge, wisdom, and goodness. Pick it up and you'll finish it in one sitting."" -Radha Pyati, PhD, chancellor and dean, Penn State Berks ""The Book of Sprout is a beautiful story about the power of curiosity, learning, creativity and persistence. It reminded me how much good can happen when you approach people and situations with an open heart and an open mind. I highly recommend this book for all ages."" -Thomas Ripsam, president and CEO, C.F. Martin and Company ""This is a very readable book about a young boy learning to discover his very own story. A call to adventure to write his own book. A highly recommended read for children and parents learning to create the right conditions and environments for personal growth and success."" -Gregory J. Hagin, principal and managing director, CCS Fundraising ""The Book of Sprout captures the magic of learning, kindness, and finding meaning in everyday moments. It's a story that stirs both imagination and heart-a rare reminder that every life is a book waiting to be written. A great read for kids and kids at heart of every age."" -Joni S. Naugle, president, Naugle Associates, LLC ""Through the profound image of a blank book, Richard Gleason and Karen Norhiem remind us that life isn't something that happens to us-it's something we write, one choice at a time. A tender, timeless tale about the courage to begin your own story."" -Matthew Nealon, CEO, Mechanical X Advantage
