"""The book is absolutely outstanding! It is an intellectual tour de force by a stellar cast of more than 50 superb scholars. It achieves the impossible - both tremendous breadth and depth on the most important topics in organization theory today. No serious student of organizations can possibly do without this book."" Christine Oliver, York University ""The quality of the contributors and the intelligence of the comprehensive editorial framework assure that we have, at last, a worthy successor to March's classic Handbook of Organizations (1965). The commitment to a common enterprise, the connections constructed across levels of analysis, and a devotion to cumulative knowledge are welcome attributes of this valuable collection."" W. Richard Scott, Stanford University ""Baum has brought together a diverse and wily asemblage of authors to write a coherent book of the state of the art of organizations. The chapters show that organization studies has a defined frontier and research program."" Bruce Kogut, University of Pennsylvania ""...the volume reaches beyond its espoused role as a ""companion"" and provides a bold statement that we believe will help guide the next generation of organizational theory scholars and spark disquiet (and perhaps consternation) among organizational researchers who are at the margins of this movement."" Administrative Science Quarterly"
